I have been using text links as an advertiser for about 18 months now and it’s a great, cheap alternative to other advertising networks. A friend of mine displays text link ads on his blog and has a constant income of $250 each month from TLA (which is really good considering he uses other advertising networks and his blog isn’t doing so good in terms of visitors). But enough of that, i’ll tell you what text-links are all about…
Paid TEXT LINKS are quite a new product in the advertising world. This is not like conventional advertising. With more and more blogs going online someone had this great idea to sell paid links in a blog’s blogroll. The blogroll is that thing on a blog’s sidebar (usually) where the blog owner displays links of friendly sites. This was great news for bloggers as they could sell some advertising space without destroying their blog’s look and feel. The text links have a perfect integration. But the big break came when people started to take into consideration PAGE RANK. Page rank (or simply PR) is a numeric value that represents how important a page is on the web. The search engine figures that when one page links to another page, it is effectively casting a vote for the other page. The more votes that are cast for a page, the more important the page must be. Also, the importance of the page that is casting the vote determines how important the vote itself is. So basically the higher the page rank the better your page will be placed in the search results. And we all want our pages to be in the top 10 search results.
So because of page rank TEXT LINK ADS started to become very popular with advertisers because they got 2 things at the same time: 1) conventional advertising getting visitors to their sites and their products and 2) better page rank (you don’t get better PR using AdWords and other such advertising).
Now that i explained what PR and TLA ads is all about you are probably wondering how useful it is.
If you are a publisher Text-link-ads will offer non intrusive advertising that will blend in with you blog’s look and feel and it also work with other advertising networks. Text-link-ads can also be used on a regular html site, the only requirement is to have php enabled. Another great thing about TLA is that once you have an established site or blog you can set your own pricing for the ads. And even more, you have full control over the ads you show on your site (you can manually approve the ads that show up on your site). And the great thing that TLA provides is stability. Once an advertiser starts displaying a text ad on you site (and if your site’s rank doesn’t drop really bad), that advertiser is gonna stay with you and you’ll have a constant stream of money rolling in.
Now if you are an advertiser you should really use this. Instead of paying $30 on CPC or CPM advertising you should try for at least a month to buy one text link. Unlike conventional advertising here you can control where your ad is gonna show up. This gives you laser sight targeting and also will increase your page rank. And even more, if you sign up now you will receive $100 bonus to your TEXT-LINK-ADS account.
I will show you more uses of text links and some tips and tricks in a future post. Till then, take care.
