I want a $3000 laptop

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

One of my favorite tech sites TheTechDon is hosting a great contest. They are offering 3 laptops, each worth around $3000. And that Toshiba Portege is just amazing - 1.7 pounds. It like weights nothing. The contest is point based and you get point for doing the usual commenting, linking, subscribing. Damn, I could really use that Portege. Wish me luck.

Will Blog For Food Or Die Starving

will_blog_for_food.jpgMore and more people these days think they can make money blogging. This is a common misconception. Blogging is not something you can make money from (comparing it to other things). To make money blogging you must have visitors and readers. To get visitors and readers you must have promotion. To have promotion you must have money to pay for it. So this is where it all ends up. Blogging, just like any other business need money to start up. You can’t make money without spending money. If you invest $0 in a business you will get $0. With blogging this is a bit, but just a bit different - if you invest $0 you will probably get $100 after a year. You can’t live a whole year with $100.

This perception about bloggers that make loads of money is not completely true. Look at people like John Chow and Shoemoney. Because of people like them most people think that you can make a living from blogging. But the truth is JC and Shoe had some other sites before they started blogging. And most of their income is not from their blogging, it’s from the other sites. So if you see John Chow making $20,000 per month by blogging, you think that you can do it too. But the question is do you have $1,500 to pay for 3-4 paid reviews that will get your name out there? Do ya? And if you do, are yo willing to spend them on that? Do you have $80 to pay each month for private hosting (presuming that your blog will be famous and will have a large number of visitors)? People make money blogging by becoming a billboard, an interactive one. You create an image for yourself and for your blog, you make a statement, you become popular and only then advertisers will pile up to have their ads shown on your site and to promote their products. But becoming popular requires 2 things: 1) Lots of money or 2) A great idea - something that the world has never seen - and little money. However you try to do this you will still need money.

From my personal point of view. Blogging is the last thing to do if you wanna make money online. I own a real life shop, some affiliate marketing sites and this blog. Affiliate marketing earned me in 5 days what this blog earned me in a month (although the affilaite marketing sites needed advertising, while on the blog I didn’t spend anything).

So knowing this, If you had $5,000 would you invest it in a blog or in a real life business?

Things For The Future

First of all I would like to tell you that I talked to a few friends and some people I know and I got my hands on some of those miraculous eBooks that teach you how to send huge amounts of visitors to your site without doing nothing or how to get free adwords advertising or how to earn at least $3000/week without moving a finger. The funny thing was I expected them to be some kind of crap but this was too much. I pissed myself off when I read the traffic generating scheme and the affiliate marketing system. They were so stupid and the information in those eBooks could be found anywhere for free (even on Domprofesor.com). So in the next days/weeks you I will post my opinion about some of these programs and I will tell you exactly how they work.

Second thing I would like to tell you is Domprofesor.com is going to have a top commentators list. Everyone in this list will get a backlink from my site and will get featured in the sidebar (something like a blogroll).

Third and last thing for today: your questions.

  • Why don’t I use Adsense? Because I don’t think Adsense will work better than what I am using at the moment. But to prove you this (and also to make myself 100% sure) I decided to put Adsense on Domprofesor.com and see what happens in a month’s time. But wait. Because I am doing this to prove you which one is better (Adsense or other advertising methods) all Adsense income from this site will be yours. It will be divided equally between my readers or we’ll set up some kind of contest or I don’t know… I’ll let you decide, it’s your money. (I am now waiting for my confirmation from Adsense and for your opinions on how to give the money away).
  • What about AdBrite? There is going to be a full post or a series of posts about how AdBrite works and why is it better than any other contextual advertising network.
  • More about the money making programs (the ones that say you can make $3000/week). Several posts are on their way (regarding the programs I got from my friends). As for the programs I can’t get my hands on (without paying - I don’t wanna pay $50 for some crap) I decided to raise funds from my readers. I will set up a Paypal donation account where you can donate (max $2 for each user) and with that money we will buy a program that you, the readers, choose. You will then get a full explanation of how that system works and if it’s legally allowed, you will even get a copy of that eBook.

I await your suggestions and comments.

How Painful Can A Karate Chop Be? Way Too Painful

It’s amazing what slo-mo can show you. What normal looks like a hand made of iron, in slow motion looks like something make out of jelly. This guy looks tough before and after he breaks the brick but i bet he is whining inside. My god it looks painful. Don’t try this at home.
