It is my opinion that Adsense is not the best monetization method for most sites. I have written about it in a previous post and now i will give you more reasons.
Word around the Webmaster World Forum is that publishers have been experiencing a sharp decline in Adsense earning for the past month. The thing is no one yet knows what happens or it this decline in earnings is general or only experience by a small amount of publishers.
A small poll (43 participants) at Search Engine Roundtable shows that more than half of the webmasters suffered a decrease in earning, while the rest experienced a slight increase. First of all i think this poll is not representative but it still tells us something. It seems that Adsense is leveraging income over several niches and what it think happened there is Google artificially lowered the income on high paying keyword to equalize it with the others.
Now i don’t know anyone to be really impressed by Adsense. I don’t know no one who got the mythical $80 per click (people say, but i don’t believe). So I don’t really know how can this decrease in earnings be a problem. You usually get $200 per month and now you get $180, big deal.
If you don’t get like a gazilion visitors per day you won’t be able to make real money with adsense. In particular blogs, targeted by readers for their content (which they will read and ignore the ads) not for their keywords. Adsense works best on portal-like sites and on sites that people go through (not stay). But this is only my opinion…

I have just read on Shoemoney that big G is planning to enter the paid reviews market. This is from an unconfirmed source but for me it’s pretty obvious. It was about time they wanted a piece of the pie. Because paid reviews are (in my opinion) the next big thing in advertising. And let’s face it, Google has everything to set up this thing: Bloggers and Publishers / Advetisers. The network is already there. The name is already there (anything that has the G name on it is going to sell even if it’s complete crap). I think they will do this. The only thing i wonder is if they are going to be greedy. Because sites like ReviewMe, PPP or SponsoredReviews keep up to %35 of the money payed for the review. So if someone pays $100 for a review on your site you will receive only $65. And that is just not fair. Of course the middle man has to get something for setting up the deal but %35 is too much. That is why i prefer direct negotiation and if you know how to do it it works and it’s better for you as a publisher and for the advertiser as well.
But getting back to Google… What do you think about this? Do you think big G will lauch this service in 2008? Do you think Google will destroy it’s competition in this field or not?

Surfing the web, looking for some interesting moneymakers i found TNX.net. This is an advertising platform that targets both publishers and advertisers equally well. Even more, TNX.net offers some fantastic targeting: by website’s niche (or category), there is also a targeting by the site’s region, Google PR of each page and Link popularity (Yahoo backlinks) of each website. Other thing you need to know are you can test-drive it for free - you will get some free point when you sign-up (no deposit required) and if you are an advertising agency or SEO consultant you can get discounts up to %50. So to sum up everything TNX.net offers you advertising that is simple, very effective and very very cheap.
For Publishers
To sign-up as a TNX publisher your site will need to have 2 things: it must be indexed by Google and it must be hosted on a service that supports PHP or Perl (this is because you have to add some code to your website). Aside of that the publisher program is open to all site whether big or small. All you have to do is add the TNX code to your site and their spyder will index your site quickly (1-3 days) and after that you will be able to sell your links. And now making money is so easy - for every link you display you will get paid (this depends on your site’s PR and link popularity). Again, simple and effective.
But wait, there’s more - The referral program of course
Yep, TNX offers a very lucrative referral program. When you refer webmasters to TNX.net, you get 13.3% (as long as your account is active) of all TNX-points that are generated by their websites. In addition, you will receive 5% of all payments, made by referred advertiser. Great income.
